Khan Academy is a non-profit[4] educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan to provide "a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere".[5] The organization produces micro lectures in the form of YouTube videos.[6] In addition to micro lectures, the organization's website features practice exercises and tools for educators. All resources are available for free to anyone around the world.  The subjects range from early elementary to late high school and early college level curriculum.

Miear Basketball
Buy Tickets Now for Mortals vs Wizards
On Friday, May 6, Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Miear will trade in his signature bow tie for a blue and gold basketball jersey. The Harlem Wizards are coming to town to take on The MCPS Mortals, an All-Star cast of Montgomery County Public Schools educators and community leaders. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Montgomery County Educational Foundation. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the game starts at 7:00 p.m.

AMS Library Media Specialist Named MCPS Teacher of the Year
In front of a cafeteria full of students, Margaret Christle, library media specialist at Auburn Middle School, was announced as the 2016-17 MCPS Teacher of the Year. The announcement was met with cheers and applause by AMS students and staff. Christle has worked at Auburn Middle since 2014 and has also worked at Blacksburg High School.

Support Staff EOY
Tom Bentley Recognized as Support Staff Employee of the Year
To the cheers of more than 600 students, Tom Bentley was announced as the 2016-17 Support Staff Employee of the Year for MCPS. Students lined up after the announcement to hug Bentley, the senior custodian at Falling Branch Elementary. Bentley has worked at MCPS for 32 years.
