VDOE Back to Basics Initiative Survey

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) recognizes that there is room for improvement in the areas of special education regulatory compliance and individualized education program (IEP) development.  Additionally, the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District addressed the need for greater attention to special education compliance.  Therefore, in an effort to ensure that the Commonwealth of Virginia continues to achieve success in special education compliance, the VDOE, Division of Special Education and Student Services (SESS), is looking to initiate a “Back to Basics” training program.  Through the “Back to Basics” initiative, staff within SESS and others as deemed necessary and appropriate, will be offering trainings to local school divisions on topics VDOE has found to be the most common need; as generated from surveys to be completed by school division personnel and you as parents, advocates, and other community stakeholders.  As such, we invite you to complete the following short survey to assist SESS in putting together the “Back to Basics” program.  The survey can be found on the following weblink:
