The music department at Kipps Elementary School is based on the practices of Orff-Schulwerk - a child centered way to teach and learn music.  The goal of each class is to learn about music in a non-competitive atmosphere where one of the rewards is making music with others. To learn more about Orff-Schulwerk visit their website by clicking here.

Students sing, say, move, and play during each music lesson; each class has music twice a week for thirty minutes.  Students also explore, imitate, improvise, listen, and compose music throughout the year.

In addition to the in-school music curriculum, there are five extra curricular groups that are open to students in 3rd-5th grades.  All groups require a successful audition to participate.

Recorder Club (4th and 5th only) - Tuesdays 8:30-9:00 AM
3rd Grade Orff Ensemble - Tuesdays 3:45-4:30 PM
D.R.U.M (4h and 5th only) - Thursdays 8:30-9:00 AM
4th Grade Orff Ensemble - Thursdays 3:45-4:30 PM
Three O'clock Band (5th grade only) - Mondays 3:45-4:30 and Wednesdays at 3:00
